Mr Vella is the Chief Executive officer of UĦM Voice of the workers, a position which he has held since 2011. Born in Pieta’ Mr Vella received his secondary education at the Archbishop’s Seminary in Rabat (Malta), before reading for a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Malta. He later went on to receive post graduate training in the social field also from the University of Malta. He also trained with the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Mr Vella’s professional contribution in the social sphere was especially prominent when he served as Coordinator of the Community Development Unit in Cospicua, an initiative that was part of the national Social Welfare Development Programme. He later went on to act as Service Area Leader of Supportline 179, Malta’s National Helpline for Crisis Intervention and the Initial Response Service within Agenzija Appogg.
Before Joining UĦM as secretary for the Public Entities Section, Mr Vella held the position of Training Executive within the Foundation for Social welfare Services. As part of his contribution inside UĦM, Mr Vella led the UĦM’s team promotion the JOBS+ initiative. This policy was eventually adopted by all social partners and today is the national labour market policy in the country.
